Publication Ethics Statement

This statement outlines the ethical behavior expected of all parties involved in the publication process of Lentera Ilmu : Jurnal Kependidikan, Riset dan Teoritis, including authors, the editor-in-chief, the editorial board, peer reviewers, and the publisher. This statement is based on the COPE Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors.
Ethical Guidelines for Journal Publication
The publication of articles in this peer-reviewed journal represents an essential element in the development of a coherent and respected network of knowledge. It reflects the quality of the authors’ work and the institutions that support them. Peer-reviewed articles embody and support the scientific method. Therefore, it is important to establish standards of expected ethical behavior for all parties involved in the publishing process: authors, journal editors, peer reviewers, publishers, and the academic community.
Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Tarbiyah Padang Lawas (STIT PL) Gunung Tua, as the publisher of Lentera Ilmu, takes its guardianship responsibilities over all publishing stages seriously and recognizes its ethical and other responsibilities. We are committed to ensuring that advertising, reprints, or other commercial revenue have no impact or influence on editorial decisions. Furthermore, the Editorial Board will assist in communications with other journals and publishers where this is useful and necessary.
Publication Decisions
The editor of Lentera Ilmu is responsible for deciding which manuscripts are suitable for publication. The validity of the work and its importance to researchers and readers must always be the determining factors. The editor may be guided by the policies of the journal’s editorial board and must comply with applicable legal requirements regarding defamation, copyright infringement, and plagiarism. When making decisions, the editor may consult with other editors or peer reviewers.
Fair Play
Editors evaluate manuscripts for their intellectual content without regard to the authors’ race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, nationality, or political philosophy.
Confidentiality
The editor and editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, other editorial advisers, and the publisher, as appropriate.
Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest
Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used in an editor’s own research without the express written consent of the author.
Duties of Reviewers
- Contribution to Editorial Decisions – Peer review assists the editor in making editorial decisions and may also help authors improve their manuscripts.
- Promptness – Any reviewer who feels unqualified to review the manuscript or cannot provide a timely review should notify the editor immediately.
- Confidentiality – Manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents and must not be shown to or discussed with others without the editor’s permission.
- Standards of Objectivity – Reviews should be conducted objectively, avoiding personal criticism of the author, and supported by clear arguments.
- Acknowledgement of Sources – Reviewers should identify relevant published work not cited by the authors and report any substantial similarity or overlap with other published works.
- Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest – Privileged information or ideas obtained through peer review must not be used for personal advantage. Reviewers should not consider manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest.
Duties of Authors
- Reporting Standards – Authors must present an accurate account of the work performed as well as an objective discussion of its significance.
- Data Access and Retention – Authors should be prepared to provide raw data for editorial review and retain such data for a reasonable period after publication.
- Originality and Plagiarism – Authors must ensure their work is entirely original and that appropriate citations are provided for the work and words of others.
- Multiple or Concurrent Publication – Authors must not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously.
- Acknowledgement of Sources – Proper acknowledgment of the work of others must always be given.
- Authorship of the Paper – Authorship should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the study. All authors must approve the final version of the manuscript.
- Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest – All authors must disclose any financial or other substantive conflicts of interest, along with all sources of financial support for the research.
- Fundamental Errors in Published Works – If authors discover a significant error or inaccuracy in their published work, they must promptly notify the editor and cooperate to retract or correct the paper.
- Ethical Oversight – Research involving hazardous materials, humans, or animals must comply with relevant ethical standards and obtain appropriate ethical approval.
